Varjola is family-owned countryside resort in Laukaa, Central Finland. Even though we are located in peaceful lake and river area, it is only 30 minutes from Jyväskylä city center and 3,5 hours from Helsinki. Varjola was originally founded in 1882, when timber rafting started building a farm near to the rapids. Varjola was very progressed in the development of agriculture and today we offer tourism services respecting tradition.
Varjola offers high-quality accommodation in our Riihi Villas, traditional Finnish Smoke Sauna experiences and variety of group activities. Pure countryside food, authentic taste, nature adventures, traditional saunas and accommodation possibilities makes Varjola unique place to visit.

How to get to Varjola
By Car
From Jyväskylä city center:
Drive to Laukaa and from the traffic circle in Laukaa continue approximately 5 km towards Suolahti. Just before the big bridge going over the Kuusa rapids turn left (sign: Valkola 8). Then drive 200 m and you arrive to Varjola.
From Jyväskylä (JYV) airport:
Turn to left (E4) towards north. Drive about 1,5 km and then turn to the right following sign towards Laukaa. Drive about 10 km and then you arrive to a T-crossing. Turn left and drive about 3,5 km towards Suolahti. Just before the big bridge going over the Kuusa rapids turn left (sign: Valkola 8). Then drive 200 m and you arrive to Varjola.

Jyväskylä’s refurbished busy marina is located close to the heart of the city and Travel Centre, where buses and trains arrive/departs. So it is easy to arrive to Jyväskylä by train or bus, and take a boat to Varjola.
